PFLAG provides support, education, and community for LGBTQ+ people and the people who love them. Through local chapters and virtual meetings, people can connect with others who share similar experiences, ask questions, receive support, and find additional resources.

Take It Down — NCMEC

Take It Down is a free, anonymous service designed to help people remove or stop the online sharing of nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit images and videos that were taken when they were under 18.

The image or video does not have to be uploaded to NCMEC. The tool creates a digital fingerprint from the image on the user’s own device, which participating platforms can use to identify and remove matching content.

BenefitsCal is California's online portal for applying for and managing public assistance programs.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)

SMUD - Medical Equipment & Energy Assistance

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) provides financial assistance to eligible customers with medical needs and households experiencing financial hardship.

Its Medical Equipment Discount program offers a $15 monthly discount for eligible customers who rely on certain medical equipment, including electric wheelchairs, oxygen concentrators, and ventilators. People with extraordinary heating or cooling needs due to a medical condition may also qualify.

SMUD also offers an income-based Energy Assistance Program Rate (EAPR). Eligible customers can receive both discounts.

PG&E - Medical Baseline & Financial Assistance

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) offers assistance to eligible customers with disabilities, qualifying medical conditions, or medically necessary energy needs.

The Medical Baseline Program provides additional electricity or natural gas at lower rates for eligible customers who depend on certain medical equipment or require additional heating or cooling because of a medical condition.

PG&E also offers the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program and Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) program, which provide monthly discounts to qualifying households based on income or participation in eligible assistance programs.

Medical Baseline eligibility is based on medical needs rather than household income. Eligible customers may also qualify for CARE or FERA.

California Public Utilities Commission - Utility Discounts

 Many California electric and natural gas companies offer assistance programs for qualifying medical needs and low-income households.

Depending on your utility provider, assistance may include Medical Baseline allowances, CARE or FERA discounts, energy-efficiency improvements, and payment assistance.

Programs and eligibility requirements vary by provider. 

Contact your electric or gas company directly to ask about available assistance, especially if you depend on medical equipment or require additional heating or cooling because of a medical condition.

California LifeLine - Discounted Phone Service

California LifeLine helps eligible low-income households reduce the cost of home telephone or cell phone service.

Households may qualify based on income or participation in eligible public assistance programs, including Medi-Cal, CalFresh, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and others.

Eligible households can receive a monthly discount through participating telephone providers. Special provisions are available for certain people with hearing or speech disabilities.
